Here's a quick and easy bookmark we made last week at my friend Kendra's workshop. A lot of the ladies from our book club were there, so she figured a bookmark was the perfect project!
The technique here is a whole lot of stamping, layering and then sponging. Here's the order I stamped everything in to get this effect:
- Stamp Leave image in Kiwi Kiss
- Stamp Butterfly image in Baja Breeze
- Sponge over paper with Kiwi Kiss, So Saffron, Baja Breeze and Orchid Opulence. (darkest to lightest is best and remember to take it easy, it is easier to put more on)
- Stamp butterfly again in Orchid Opulence
- Finish by sponging over any spots needing a bit of colour, and around the edges
That's it. The rest is super easy - all the corners are done with the corner rounder punch. The Whisper White base measures 2 by 5 inches, and the Night of Navy piece 2 1/4 by 5 1/4 inches. I tucked the bashful blue grosgrain ribbon between the two layers, and then topped it off with a small filgree brad.
If you wanted to protect this a bit more, you could cover the whisper white piece with versamark and then heat emboss it with clear ep or glassy glaze enamel. Or you could cover it with Crystal Effects.
This would be a great mother's day gift, teacher's gift or for any book lover on your list!
The sun is shining here, and we're in for a beautiful weekend! I can hardly wait to get my hands into my garden this weekend!
