Last Chance List Countdown - Wild About You!

Don't the googly eyes crack you up?  Very simple card - but the eyes are enough to make it fun and fabulous.  This is the little alligator from the soon to be retired Wild About You stamp set, which is definitely one of my son's favorites. I can guarantee I will be holding on to this one for a long time to come. 

I made this card ages ago, so the designer series paper here is retired, and both the animal and the greeting (Hugs & Wishes) are on the way out in 6 short days! Be sure to check out the last chance list by clicking here. 

A final tip for you - if you want to adhere googly eyes and make sure they stay put - use Tombo Mono.  Once that dries the eyes aren't going anywhere.

2009/2010 Stampin Up Catalogs are Here!

One of my daily rituals is stopping by the post office to see what fun things have arrived in the mail.  I'm always excited when it's a package or magazine and not a hydro bill or bank statement. Well, yesterday, I opened my box to find four different "parcel" cards, and proceeded to the counter to pick up my stuff. I had to laugh when I saw nine boxes of SU catalogs stacked right in plain view on a table behind the counter!

The Last Chance List Countdown continues...today's featured set is Organic Outlines!  This is probably THE set that I'm saddest to see go.  As a scrapbooker at heart, a large set like this is right up my alley!  It's very versatile for all of your papercrafting projects....it's a must have.  In fact, so much so, that I will be keeping it my stash despite its retirement! And if you know me at all, I'm ruthless when it comes to purging stamp sets when it comes new catalog time.

Stamper's Garage Sale - Friday July 3rd!

Change of A Dress....

Super girlie card...the dress is from the Change of Address stamp set.  A great set with lots of shoe related sayings. I'm an accessories girl, so a set with purses and shoes is perfect for me!

This is a wee card at 3x3...the small circle is cut out using the 1 3/4 circle punch, with the bigger circle cut out with the circle scissor plus. Colouring is done with chocolate chip craft ink and a blender pen.

Recipe:

Stamps: Change of Address

Ink: Basic Grey and Pink Pirouette Classic, Chocolate Chip Craft Ink

Paper: Chocolate Chip and Whisper White cardstock, Bella Rose designer series paper

Accessories: Flower brad, stampin' dimensionals

Tools: 1 3/4 circle punch, circle scissor plus, glass mat, paper piercer, mat pack

Soft Summer...yet again!

Here's a variation on an earlier card I did with the Soft Summer set from the Spring Occasions Mini Catalog.  This is one of those sets that I really didn't like the first four or five times I saw the mini catalog, but it grew on me.  Definitely not my usual style...but now I love it!  Less than two weeks until it's gone...along with the rest of the mini.

Watercolour Wonder Crayons yet again with the blender  pen...enough said. Background stamping is tone on tone with Certainly Celery classic ink, on Certainly Celery paper.

Staz-on and watercolour again....maybe I have a problem?  Lol - no more watercolouring after this.

Paper: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral Cardstock, Watercolour paper

Cheers to You - Summer Style!

This card is just so summer to me - maybe it's the bright colours which I don't think I've ever used together before!  A fitting card while I'm away in Florida by the pool in some mighty hot sun!  This is yet another one of the cards from the watercolouring class a few weeks back.

This uses staz-on ink on watercolour paper - so, by now you've probably noticed, that I'm all about the Staz-on and watercolour paper. Yes, they cost a bit more, but really, really are worth it if you are going to watercolour.  There's nothing worse than doing a lot of work to colour in an image...and then, bam-o, it's too wet or smudging or even worse, ripping.  And yes, I've had all of the above happen. So when i'm serious, its the staz-on/watercolour paper combo all the way!

The watercolouring technique used here is markers with the aquapainter.  This effect gives much more saturated colour than the other watercolouring techniques - and doesn't that make it look like a real margarita?  Yum!

Another thing to note....you may be thinking what designer series paper is that? It's from the Pumpkin Pie package of patterns designer series paper. I find that most people totally miss it in the catalog - and it really is a must-have.  You can find it in the current catalog on page 150.  It's a whole package of patterned paper in one colour - which I like because I have my favourite colours on hand, and it's a nice change from wilder colour combos.  This paper (aside from the in color ones) will be in the next catalog too, so I recommend you check it out! Fun & Fast Notes Birdie!

Don't you love this little guy?  I know, I know, there's so many birds in the catalog....but this guy from Fun & Fast notes is just too cute! I've always loved this bird and was happy that this set won't be retiring! 

Here's the bird is coloured in using watercolour pencils.  The colouring was done using a bit from the pencils which was then moved around the image using a blender pen.  The image was stamped in Staz-On onto watercolour paper.
