Five Minute Friday: Serene Snowflakes Easy Christmas Card

It's Friday, so here's a five minute card for christmas that you can stamp a stack of quickly!  I just love the Serene Snowflakes stamp set and have been using it a ton. This card is inspired by several I've seen around various forum, but of course I haven't saved them - apologies if I have CASEd you - and let me know if this is your original creation!  This is just one of four cards I am doing tonight at Carrie's Christmas Card Class - if you want to book your own private class this holiday season, please contact me to book a date! 

Here's the instructions for making this card:

1. Cut card stock base of Night of Navy to 5.5 by 8.5 and fold in half. Use bone folder to get a crisp fold.
2. Cut piece of brushed silver to 4 x 5.25.  Cut Night of Navy piece to 3.75 x 5.
3. Stamp greeting towards upper right hand side in Versamark.  Stamp snowflakes randomly around
4. the card.  Cover with silver embossing powder and set with heat tool.
5. Attach this panel to the silver piece with SNAIL, and then this panel to your card base.
6. Decorate inside and envelope as desired.

Punched Creations - My Little Elf!

 
  
I am all Halloweened out, at least for crafting purposes. So I'm moving on today to Christmas. I have been working on little Halloween treat boxes, and I need a break from thinking about all that candy!  Saturday I am having a fun class - a christmas tag class featuring punched creations.  If you'd like to join us - I have a couple spots left.  The class runs from 10 to Noon at my place. maggie@ilovepapercrafts.com

In preparing for this class, I was looking for a little elf, and couldn't find one I really liked, so I created my own. This punch art elf was created using the following Stampin Up punches - Five Flower Punch, 1 3/4 circle punch, Trio Flower, 1/2 circle, 1 1/4 square, Word Window and Double Hole Punch.  Easy peasy!

The Tag base is Real Red cut with the Clear circle on the Big Shot and then stamped with "very merry" from Short and Sweet.  The ribbon is the very yummy Mistletoe ribbon from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Have to post and run - lots to do today!  I have a Christmas card for you tomorrow that we are doing at our Papercraft Princesses team meeting tonight.

Digital Wednesday - Halloween Style

 

Quick and easy Halloween page made using My Digital Studio. All I can say is this page taught me a good lesson about how much digital rocks. This page is MUCH different than when I started...and guess what, I've not wasted any paper, and there's no mess for me to clean up.  For someone who is all about tidying up, I am one messy stamper - call it part of the creative process. 

This page uses standard items included in the base My Digital Studio program, and uses a punch, some text, a photo mat, designer series paper and a brad.   A layout that would work for any event you want to scrapbook!

Christmas Card Design Consultation

The holidays are sneaking up on us, and naturally we all start thinking of all the little things that go into celebrating with your family and friends.  A lot of us take the time to send handmade cards, and I don't know about you, but I usually have the best of intentions...and then about the third week of November, I start making cards like a mad woman.

This year, let me help you make your holiday cards, and make the whole process a lot simpler.  Whether you want to make 5 or 50 cards this year, I can help you with a Christmas Card Design Consultation.  The idea is simple - when you buy stuff to renovate your kitchen, do you just walk into Home Depot and buy a bunch of stuff and hope for the best?  NO! You have a design and a plan in place. So, why not apply that same idea to your cards and make it a fun process! 

Christmas Card Design Consultations are scheduled as a 1 on 1 session where we'll do the following:

• Assess your needs in terms of number of cards and any other factors.
• Discuss your style and taste so we can create a card that reflects you!
• Create a quick protype of the card so you can get an idea of what it will look like.
• Make up a supply list of the items you need to complete the project, with a focus on being realistic and keeping your postal costs in check.
• Place your order for supplies - for arrival within 10 business days.

When your order arrives, you will get a package with your supplies, step by step instructions for the cards we created during the session, and all of your card bases pre-cut to save you time and effort!  How easy is that? All you have to do is go home and do a bit of stamping and cutting  and snailing and you'll be well on your way to creating one of a kind masterpieces!

Spooky Kooky Fancy Favor Halloween Box

Isn't he cute?  I am so glad that I caved and bought the Build A Bear dies for the Big Shot. To be honest, it took me a while to warm up to these guys, and now, I've been making a ton of bears, including a cute tote bag for my son for Halloween which I'll share later this week, and a tote for my neice's birthday next week.  Too cute. 

The base for this is the Fancy Favor Box for the Big Shot, and then I've pieced together the bear using Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive and Basic Black cardstock.  Super easy because the Big Shot does all the work for you.  To dress up the bag,I added a ribbon handle, and some brads:

Haunting Hill Halloween Card

The Halloween countdown is on - at least at my place. We are currently discussing the number of sleeps on a daily basis, lol.  Here's a card I created using the Haunting Hill Stampin Around wheel as a base.  Most of the time I use the wheels as an accent on cards instead of as the main image.  The image is over 7 inches long, so I've made a card that's a unique size. 

The image was rolled on Whisper White using a Basic Black cartridge.  I then colored in using a variety of classic inks and a blender pen.  The pumpkins are from Twick or Treat and colored and then cut out and added on top of the main image with Stampin Dimensionals. The sky was then sponged with Frost White shimmer paint which I tinted with a Basic Grey reinker. It's hard to really tell, but it makes this panel pop in real life!

The whole thing is matted on Basic Black and then on Elegant Eggplant.   The card base is Old Olive, and then with two of the designer series papers from the  Cast A Spell package. Everything is topped off with a Pumpkin Pie Cord Button, which is tied with a tiny piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Five Minute Friday - Autumn Splendor Thank You Card

Starting today, projects posted on Fridays will now be "five minute" papercrafting projects. The idea is to share quick and easy projects you can create when you are short on time, or need to make multiple projects.  Today's card is very easy and keeps the use of supplies to a minimum!  The main technique is collage stamping and then going over things quickly with an aquapainter. Here's how I did it:

1. Cut Really Rust card base to 8.5 by 11.

2. Cut More Mustard mat to 4 x 5.25.

3. Cut Confetti White card stock panel to 3.75 x 5.

4. Using More Mustard, Chocolate Chip and Really Rust, stamp leaves around top of card as shown.

5. Stamp greeting in Chocolate Chip.

6. Using SNAIL attach Confetti White panel to More Mustard mat.  Wrap ribbon around the back and attach with SNAIL.

7. Attach card mat to card base with SNAIL. You are done!

Wasn't that easy?  Sometimes, it's a good idea to limit your supplies and keep your embellishments and bling to a minimum to save on time, especially if you want to make a lot of cards fast.  I was able to make 40 of these in under two hours the other day!

Digital Wednesday - Santa Baby Christmas Page

 
  

Here's a quick and easy page I made in about five minutes using one of the Simply Scrappin templates available in My Digital Studio. If you are a bit reluctant because you aren't a "computer person" the templates are a great way to learn the ropes and get comfortable using the program.   What's great about My Digital Studio, is that there's so many ways to get those photos out of files and into creations you can share! Just think of all the possibilities for Christmas gift giving - calendars, photo books, multimedia CDs.....the list goes on and on!

Cold & Cuddly Penguin Petal Box

Here's our 3D project from my monthly Stamp Club!  We had a great time making this super easy and cute little box.  It's made using the Petal Card Die for the Big Shot and putting four of them together.  Here's the material list for this project, and the video with the step by step instructions is below. Please note with the video - there were two technical difficulties - the phone ringing (and it was a stamper calling!) and then my cat was meowing again.  Seriously - it's like he wants to be a YouTube star!
