Easter Blossoms: Simple Easter Card

Today's project is a super simple Easter card, and if you are stamping with me this weekend, you'll be doing this one! I cannot get enough of this stamp set...I just love how versatile it is. I promise to show you some projects next week with some different sets. I'm itching to use Nature Walk and I have some cute projects that I made for my team's Pampered Princess Night tonight.  The girls that have qualified to come to this special night where I pamper them have worked really hard with sales, recruiting and promotions and I'm thankful for all of them and their hard work!  I will post pictures early next week of our projects....but here's a hint...the night's theme is "Death by Chocolate"...mmmm good!

Step by Step Instructions

1. Cut Pretty in Pink card base to 5.5 x 8.5 and fold in half.
2. Cut Crumb Cake mat to 5.25 x 4 and then run through the Big Shot with the Polkadot Embossing Folder. Attach to card base with SNAIL.
3. Cut Whisper White cardstock to 3 x4 and stamp girl and greeting in Pretty in Pink.
4. Wrap ribbon around the stamped panel and tie.
5. Attach panel with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Easy peasy....the great thing about this card is you can easily change up the colors, or the greeting for a different look.  Have a great weekend - check back Monday for more project ideas!

Technique of the Week: Emboss Resist with Pastels Featuring Easter Blossoms

Emboss Resist is ne of my all time favorite technqiues....I decided to mix it up for a spring-like look with gold embossing powder and Stampin' Pastels! Easter Blossoms makes every project look great - it's truly the stamp set you MUST have from the Occasions Mini!

Here's how to make this card and do this technique!

• Ink: Versamark (102283), Stampin' Pastels (120962)
• Paper: Very Vanilla (101650), Perfect Plum (101889), Baja Breeze (111352)
• Accessories:), SNAIL (104332), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Gold Embossing Powder (109129), Stampin' Sponges (101610)
• Tools: Big Shot Die Cutting System (113439), Tulip Frame Embossing Folder (121809), Scallop Oval Die (114521), Butterfly Die (114507), Heat Tool (100005)

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

• Perfect Plum
  • 5.5 x 8.5 for card base
  • 4.25 x 5.25 for Big Shot oval
• Baja Breeze
  • 4 x 5.25 for embossed mat
• Very Vanilla
  • Scrap for Big Shot butterfly

Technique Directions

1. Stamp image as desired on cardstock in Versamark.
2. Cover with embossing powder of your choice and heat set.
3. Using pastels gently sponge overtop of the image. Use lots of colors for a multi-toned effect.
4. If any pastels stick to your embossed image you can easily remove with tissue.

Finishing Touches

1. Cut and fold card base in half.
2. Run Baja Breeze piece through Big Shot with the Tulip Frame Embossing Folder.
3. Cut butterfly out of Very Vanilla, and oval out of Perfect Plum using Big Shot.
4. Stamp branch image on butterfly in Versamark, and greeting on oval in Versamark. Cover with gold embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat set.
5. Using pastels, execute emboss resist on the butterfly as per above technique directions.
6. Attach tulip frame piece to cardstock using SNAIL.
7. Attach oval to card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.
8. Take butterfly and gently curl up wings and then attach to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Last Minute Easter Ideas! Big Shot Boxes with Eggcoutrements

Isn't this bunny cute?  He's straight from the Eggcoutrements stamp set!  This is a good set as it coordinates with punches - each stamp matches a different punch! 

The first easter project today features the Milk Carton Die - it's dressed up with a a bit of Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper, a Chocolate Chip punched circle and the bunny in So Saffron.  On top is the Trio Flower with a 1/4 circle; and a word window.  Quick and easy and cute....what more could you ask for?

This is a modern take on the Easter Basket using the Box #2 die - the top is cut off, and then the scallop oval die is cut in half to make handles.  Shades of Spring designer series paper and the same bunny top this off!

Easter Chick Card Tutorial

This has definitely been one of the most popular projects I've done in the past few weeks!  Everyone loves this chick card, so today I'm sharing a tutorial on how to make this card. A PDF of this tutorial is available for you to print here.

 

Paper	So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black
Accessories	Stampin Dimensionals, White Gel Pen
Punches	Scallop Circle, Boho Blossoms, Five Flower, 1 ¼ Square, ½ inch Circle
Tools	Big Shot, Scallop Circle Die

 

Step by Step Instructions:

1.       Cut So Saffron cardstock to 12 x 6 and fold in half, make crisp fold with bone folder

2.       Place on scallop circle die for Big Shot – leave four scallops exposed at top to create hinge, run through the Big Shot machine

3.       From So Saffron punch the following:

a.       1 – Five Petal Flower

b.      1 – Scallop Circle , cut for wings as shown below in template

4.       From Pumpkin Pie, punch the following

a.       2- Boho Blossoms

b.      1- 1 ¼ square – fold from corner to corner as shown in template

5.       From Basic Black

a.       2- ½ inch circles – add white gel pen as shown in template

6.       Assemble card as shown – add wings using Stampin’ Dimensionals

Easter Basket - Basket & Blooms Big Shot Die

Here's a basket that I've been teaching at some of my recent classes. It uses the basket pieces from the Basket & Blooms XL die for the Big shot, and then a rectangular box. I got the idea from Gretchen Barron, who if you don't read her blog already *warning* you are going to love it! The directions for making this modified basket are here.

Tips and tricks for this project:

• The easter greeting comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes - which is a must-have stamp set with 24 different greetings!
• The flower is a piece of So Saffron stamped with the Dot, Dot, Dot background stamp and then punched with the Flower XL punch. The Pink piece comes from the Shades of Spring package.
• The flower is anchored with a Pretty in Pink epoxy brad
• The paper on the basket is from Shades of Spring - perfect for all of your spring cards and scrapbook pages
• The ribbon is the yummy Pretty in Pink satin ribbon

Top Note Gift Card Holder - Chocolate Bunny Style

Easter is just around the corner which is good, because then I can go into a store without the temptation of those easter cream eggs and mini eggs!  This is a top note gift card holder - it is based on a make and take at my sideline and friend Kim's demonstrator event last week.  This was an amazing night out with Stampin' Up's CEO and her daughter Sara and really was an inspiration! I didn't get much stamping done at the event because I was too busy visiting, but we had four great make and take projects. I did this one when I got home and mixed it up a bit to make it my own.  

This is just one of the projects we did on Friday night at my Die Cut Divas class!  This is a FREE class that customers who purchased a Big Shot from me get to attend.  If you have a Big Shot and didn't purchase it from me, you can attend the class for only $15!

The brad on this acts a a hinge, and then there's a pocket on the inside for a note or gift card holder. I put another bunny in mine:

The polka dot paper is from the Sweet Pea Designer Series paper package - which is a fabulous deal with 48 sheets of patterned paper, and it is only available until the end of April!   I've also used the Well Scripted Stamp set and Chocolate Bunny - which is embossed in clear.

Five Minute Friday - Easter Hugs Cards

Last night was the Papercraft Princesses monthly team meeting. We had a great night with lots of conversation (and questions!), as well as team recognition and of course stamping.  Here's one of the make and takes that we did last night featuring the Hugs from the Occasions Mini. I love these little scallop panels as they stand along as a cute tag, or work by integrating them on to a card base.  Plus, it's one less piece of cardstock to cut!  

The first one we made is a scaled down version of one that Shelli (Stampin Up's CEO) shared at the Leadership conference in January. It uses the Chocolate Bunny stamp, and the Very Vintage Wheel, along with the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes:

Here's the second one we made with the Flower XL punch, which was stamped first with the Fine Flourish background stamp first to add some texture:

March Color Challenge - Bring on Spring

Here's the color challenge for March - inspired by Spring! The colors were pulled from the Shades of Spring Designer Series paper.  I've come up with a simple card which highlights these soft colors and the playful pattern of the paper:

 

Tips and Tricks for this card:

• Creating scallop cards (or other fun shapes) is easy with the Big Shot
• The Shades of Spring Designer Series paper is bold and doesn't need a lot of embellishment
• Well scripted offers greetings suitable for multiple styles of cards
• Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon adds a touch of elegance to the card with a simple bow

Easter Class - March 14th

I am SO excited it is March!  Yes, it snowed all last week, but I am hoping this is the end of it and Spring is just around the corner. To help get you in the spring mood, join me for the Easter class on March 14th.  We will be making these three projects, as well as a two extra projects (we need to leave some element of surprise!).
