Spooky Bingo Bits - Halloween Perfection!

I know...who gives Halloween cards?  I love making them...but I end up with lots of them at the end of each Halloween. The stamps and paper are just too cute not to use! 

This is a quick and easy card which features the Spider Web Embossing Folder for the Big Shot.  Embossing folders aren't just for cardstock - they rock on Designer Series Paper and if you sand it, you can exposure the core of the paper for a cool effect as seen above. Quick and Easy Halloween Treat Bag

Did you know that this week is Ontario Public Library week?  Supporting libraries is something that is very close to my heart. Growing up, our local library (shout out to Sunnyside Branch in Ottawa) was a big part of my life and really was a centre for our community.   Not only for borrowing books, but for the kids and teen programs too.  Tonight I'm helping the North Grenville Public Library in Kemptville celebrate by having a class on their monthly mom & teen night!  We will be making three cute Halloween projects including this Treat Bag. 

It was quick and easy to put together:

1. After embossing the bag with the Big Shot and spiderweb folder, you want to fill it up with treats! 

2. Then fold over the top and punch two holes to thread the lace ribbon through (this product is retired). 

3. The images are stamped in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White cardstock and then punched with the 1 3/4 Circle. It is mounted on the 2 3/8 Scallop Circle which is in Basic Black. The boots are topped off with the Basic Rhinestones.  It is attached onto the bag with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Halloween Treat Bags - Mini Lunch Sacs

One of the fun new products in the Holiday Mini is the Mini Lunch Sacs (121031). I'm sure you are thinking....a paper bag? These aren't just any old paper bag – they have a scallop edge done already for you, a reinforced bottom and are quite strong – perfect for filling up with LOTS of treats!As a bonus, these sacs go through the Big Shot with the embossing folders beautifully.

This one was one of the projects we did at this month's Stamping Soiree.

Step by Step Directions

1. Take Mini Lunch Sac and run through the Big Shot with the Spider Web embossing folder. Face the flap towards the back of the folder, and it will emboss the entire bag. (Note: As this folder is quite detailed, you will have to be careful when you open the bag as you'll have to separate the two sides of the bag.)
2. Fold over bag about ½ inch from the top. Find the middle scallop and punch holes (using large punch on Cropadile) just above the ones right next to it so you have two holes to thread your two Rich Razzleberry ribbons through. Tie a loose know so that you can get it open after to put in treats!
3. Stamp image in Basic Grey Classic Ink on Watercolor Paper, and then punch out with 1 3/8 Circle Punch. Color in image with ink and blender pen. Stamp greeting in Rich Razzleberry towards the top of the circle. Sponge around edge with Rich Razzleberry.
4. Punch a Large Scallop circle out of Old Olive cardstock. Attach stamped image with SNAIL. Punch a 2 ½ Circle out of Rich Razzleberry, attach scallop circle with SNAIL.
5. Punch hole with Cropadile (small punch) and thread Lace Trim through hole. Tie knot with lace trim and trim with scissors. Attach to bag with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Got Treats? Halloween Box with Fancy Favor

  


Isn't this cute?  A few weeks ago one of my hostesses wanted a Halloween box so I whipped this one up to show off the Big Shot and this super cute stamp set! When it comes to cute holiday treats for occasions including Halloween, Christmas, Birthdays and Valentine's day, a great go-to stamp set is Got Treats (W119144/C120627). This cute set is perfect for any little treat you'd like to share for the holidays. Here it has been paired with the Fancy Favor Box Die for the Big Shot to create a fun treat holder.

Step by Step Directions

1. Cut paper as follows:
   1. Old Olive piece for Fancy Favor box – 6 x 12
   2. Whisper White scrap for stamped image
   3. Rich Razzleberry scrap for punched mat for image
   4. Basic Black scraps for three punched bats
2. Run Old Olive piece through the Big Shot using the Fancy Favor Die and then assemble according to instructions using Sticky Strip.
3. Take markers and color pumpkin image using Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write markers. Huff to re-wet image and then stamp on Whisper White. Punch out with Decorative Label punch.Add googly eyes to pumpkin using Mini Glue Dots.
4. Punch out another Decorative Label out of Rich Razzleberry cardstock. Cut in half and trim to layer behind stamped image. Attach mat to stamped image with SNAIL. Attach to box with Stampin' Dimensionals.
5. Punch three bats from Basic Black cardstock. Attach one to front with a Stampin' Dimensional.
6. Attach one bat to each side using SNAIL.
7. Using Sticky Strip attach ribbon handle to inside of box.
8. Set brad through bat on the side and handle, and butterfly on the back. Repeat on the other side.

Halloween Boxes with Bitty Box & October Color Challenge

 

This month's color challenge is inspired by Halloween and is perfect to use for your Halloween scrapbook pages, cards and home décor projects. I love Halloween, so this project was a no brainer for me to come up with. Using the Bitty Box die I was able to create cute, one of a kind home decor!

Step by Step Instructions

1. Cut out three boxes using Big Shot and Bitty Box Die. Assemble all three boxes using Sticky Strip.
2. Cut three pieces of Designer Series Paper which are 2 x 2 from different patterns. Attach to box tops using SNAIL.
3. Cut out letters for BOO using Big Shot and Alphabet Simple Dies. Attach to box tops using SNAIL.
4. Punch three bats – one from each of Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black and Old Olive. Attach to boxes using Stampin' Dimensionals.
5. Set brads through box top using Paper Piercing Tool.

Fang-tastic! Halloween Card with Watercoloring

Step by Step Instructions

1. Cut Rich Razzleberry cardstock to 5.5 by 8.5 and fold in half.
2. Cut 1.5 strip of Wicked Fun Designer Series Paper and attach to cardbase with SNAIL.
3. Cut 4 x 3 piece of Watercolor paper and stamp images as shown with Staz-On Leave a bit of extra room at the bottom to add your torn paper as grass.
4. Color in images with Classic Ink and blender pen. Bat is Basic Black, Cat is Basic Grey and the Pumpkin is Pumpkin Pie.
5. Tear pieces of Old Olive and piece along the bottom of the stamped panel to create grass.
6. Stamp greeting in Staz-On on watercolor paper, punch out with Large Oval. Attach to main image with Stampin' Dimensionals.
7. Add clip to stamped panel and attach to card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
8. Affix jewels along bottom of card following directions for transferring in the package.

Wax Paper Resist with Embossing Folders - Featuring Halloween!

Here's a technique that I saw for the first time at the Stampin' Up convention this past summer called Wax Paper Resist.  Now, I'm sure you'd think that I learned it in a class...but that would be wrong! I learned it from a lovely group of ladies in the lobby at the Marriott.  When there's thousands of stampers in a very small area stamping happens everywhere. These lovely ladies were kind enough to show me and my buddy Josee all of their shoebox swap projects and explain wax paper resist! It's things like this that make Stampin' Up events so fabulous!

Get out your iron and use it for something fun this week! I think this the first time my iron has been out in a long time - especially as I discovered it only costs $7 to send out my husbands shirts! I digress....using an embossing folder for the Big Shot, your iron and some wax paper, you'll create a one of a kind background for your projects. This card features the new Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (120889) from the Holiday Mini.

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

• Elegant Eggplant
  • Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5
• Glossy White
  • Mat: 4 x 5.25
• Scrap of Whisper White, Basic Black, and Elegant Eggplant for punched shapes

  Technique Directions

1. Emboss a piece of wax paper using the Big Shot and the Spider Web Embossing Folder.
2. Sandwich the embossed piece of wax paper between two pieces of Glossy White cardstock. Cover with a thin towel and then iron on a dry setting that is relatively hot like the one for Cotton. Gently iron until the wax transfers from the wax paper to the cardstock. You will end up with two pieces that have wax on them.
3. Take your brayer and cover the glossy cardstock as desired, the wax part will resist the ink. For this project, the image was brayered with Basic Black and then lightly sponged with Elegant Eggplant and Rich Razzleberry.
4. The finished panel will look like this:

 

  Finishing Touches

1. Fold card base in half.
2. Attach finished glossy cardstock panel once brayered and sponged to card base using SNAIL.
3. Using transfer sheet and following directions in the package, place Designer Jewels as shown. For this project, the main flourish image was cut in half and then applied.
4. Stamp Spooky in Old Olive classic ink on Whisper White and then punch out with Modern Label punch.
5. Punch out a XL Oval of Elegant Eggplant and then crinkle up. Smooth it out and attach greeting piece using SNAIL.
6. Cut two separate jewels from Designer Jewel package and add to each end of the greeting. Affix to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
7. Punch bat from Basic Black and attach with Stampin' Dimensionals as shown.

This technique can be easily adapted for any embossing folder to create a distinctive background or accent for your papercrafting projects.

Wicked Cool - Waterbottle Hanger

If you are looking for something a bit different to make this Halloween, try out these easy Halloween-themed water bottle hangers!  These were one of the make and takesat  last week's Papercraft Princesses Team Meeting and the girls were able to whip these up quickly.

There's a little pocket on the front to put a package of Crystal Light or even a little note! This version of the project features Wicked Cool (W118738/C120600) from the Idea Book and Catalog.

Step by Step Directions

1. Cut Rich Razzleberry cardstock to 2.75 x 11.
2. Score at 3 inches, and then flip over and score at 8 inches. Fold along score lines. One score will have the cardstock flipping up, and the other will be the one that hangs on the bottle.
3. For the bottle hanger part, take the 1 3/8 Circle Punch and push it in all the way – this will centre it for you top to bottom. Be sure to Centre side to side and then punch.
4. Flip up other panel and secure sides using Mini Glue Dots to create a pocket.
5. Cut Old Olive Cardstock to 2.5 x 2.5, and Whisper White Cardstock to 2.25 x 2.25. Stamp images as desired. Above the Web is Basic Grey, the Boots are Rich Razzleberry and Spooky is in Old Olive.
6. Adhere stamped panel to Old Olive piece with SNAIL, and then attach to bottle holder using SNAIL. Top off witch's boots with rhinestones.
7. Stamp bats on top portion of hanger in Rich Razzleberry Classic to create a tone on tone effect.
8. Punch three bats using the Bitty Bat Punch out of Basic Black. Adhere to hanger using Stampin' Dimensionals.

This project can easily be adapted for multiple occasions – birthday parties, girls night out, and more. You could also clean out the bottles and fill them with candy, and cover them with Designer Series Paper for a fun twist on this, and then add a message into the front pocket of the holder. Or make a fun holder for a bottle of apple cider or wine this holiday season.

 

Digital Wednesday - Halloween Style

 

Quick and easy Halloween page made using My Digital Studio. All I can say is this page taught me a good lesson about how much digital rocks. This page is MUCH different than when I started...and guess what, I've not wasted any paper, and there's no mess for me to clean up.  For someone who is all about tidying up, I am one messy stamper - call it part of the creative process. 

This page uses standard items included in the base My Digital Studio program, and uses a punch, some text, a photo mat, designer series paper and a brad.   A layout that would work for any event you want to scrapbook!
