It's Wednesday, so it's time for a kid's craft idea to help all of us fill up the summer months. Today's project features the Big Shot die cutting system from Stampin' Up. If you don't have one of these babies, you really need one! My son loves cutting out shapes (and I do too!) for all of his crafting projects.
This project uses the Daisy #2 Big XL die, which cuts three sizes of flowers. Here's how you make one of these flowers:
- Step 1
- Paint thin wooden dowl in color of your choice using acrylic craft point and put aside to dry
Step 2
Run paper of your choice through the Big Shot using the Daisy #2 die to create flower layers. In this case we have a large Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo large flower, a Rich Razzleberry medium flower, and a Crushed Curry small flower.
Step 3
Punch out a 1 3/4 inch circle out of thin cardboard. (The piece of cardboard that comes in your designer series paper is perfect for this purpose). Layer the flowers as desired using this base.
Step 4
With 1/2 inch circle punch, punch out circle from scrap of designer series paper. Attach to centre of build a brad with SNAIL, and then add crystal on top. Using paper piercer, punch a whole through all flower layers and cardboard, and thread the brad you just created through all layers and affix
Step 5
Attach stick when dry to back of flower using sticky strip. Tie ribbon as desired.
You could easily make a bouquet of these and put them in a pot or watering can for a gift or cute home decor item. Think of the possibilities!
The Big Shot is really a must-have for kids crafting for home or if you are a teacher! The machine is available for $132.95 and that includes all the necessary cutting plates and platforms to go with it.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions you may have about this project, or to order your Big Shot today. I promise you and your kids won't be disappointed. check back tomorrow for another project, and next wednesday for another cool kids project for the summer!
