Countdown to the End of the Occasions Mini!

Only five days left to go to get your items from the Occasions Mini before they are gone!  All this week I'll be featuring some of the best products from this catalog - you can order anything you may want online here, or you can email or call me me to order.  If you are in eastern Ontario you can come out to the Farewell to the Occasions Mini catalog tomorrow or Wednesday and make 8 cards using these fun products!  The class starts at 7 p.m. both evenings and is free with an order of $25 or more. Nature Walk - Vintage Card

Dare I hope that Spring is actually here? I'm totally skeptical after having to scrape ice off my car this morning!  Here's a little piece of spring with this card, with a timeless vintage color combo of Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake.  Do you recognize the shape the bird is stamped on? It's a modified version of the Top Note for the Big Shot, which fits this image perfectly.

Tips & Tricks from this card:

• To add visual interest the flower image is stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake paper along the bottom.
• Distressing on the Top Note and the First Edition paper is done with Crumb Cake ink added with a sponge. If you don't have Crumb Cake ink, it's a must-have in your collection.
• The Vintage Flower Adornements and Baja Breeze Seam Binding (aka the ribbon) are great embellishments for projects with a Vintage flair!

Technique of the Week: Emboss Resist with Pastels Featuring Easter Blossoms

Emboss Resist is ne of my all time favorite technqiues....I decided to mix it up for a spring-like look with gold embossing powder and Stampin' Pastels! Easter Blossoms makes every project look great - it's truly the stamp set you MUST have from the Occasions Mini!

Here's how to make this card and do this technique!

Stampin' Up Supply List

• Stamps: Easter Blossoms (W121905/C122057)
• Ink: Versamark (102283), Stampin' Pastels (120962)
• Paper: Very Vanilla (101650), Perfect Plum (101889), Baja Breeze (111352)
• Accessories:), SNAIL (104332), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Gold Embossing Powder (109129), Stampin' Sponges (101610)
• Tools: Big Shot Die Cutting System (113439), Tulip Frame Embossing Folder (121809), Scallop Oval Die (114521), Butterfly Die (114507), Heat Tool (100005)

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

• Perfect Plum
  • 5.5 x 8.5 for card base
  • 4.25 x 5.25 for Big Shot oval
• Baja Breeze
  • 4 x 5.25 for embossed mat
• Very Vanilla
  • Scrap for Big Shot butterfly

Technique Directions

1. Stamp image as desired on cardstock in Versamark.
2. Cover with embossing powder of your choice and heat set.
3. Using pastels gently sponge overtop of the image. Use lots of colors for a multi-toned effect.
4. If any pastels stick to your embossed image you can easily remove with tissue.

Finishing Touches

1. Cut and fold card base in half.
2. Run Baja Breeze piece through Big Shot with the Tulip Frame Embossing Folder.
3. Cut butterfly out of Very Vanilla, and oval out of Perfect Plum using Big Shot.
4. Stamp branch image on butterfly in Versamark, and greeting on oval in Versamark. Cover with gold embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat set.
5. Using pastels, execute emboss resist on the butterfly as per above technique directions.
6. Attach tulip frame piece to cardstock using SNAIL.
7. Attach oval to card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.
8. Take butterfly and gently curl up wings and then attach to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Vintage Springtime Suite - Easter Blossoms Birthday Card

The Occasions Mini catalog includes several new "suites" which organize coordinating paper, stamps and accessories together. Step by Step Directions

1. Cut Not Quite Navy to 7.5 x 5.5, and score at 4.25.
2. Cut strip of Spring Time Vintage to 1.5 x 5.5 and adhere to right hand side of card base as shown.
3. Cut Top Note out of Very Vanilla using Big Shot. Stamp image on Top Note using Basic Grey. Color as desired using Watercolor Crayons and blender pens.
4. Run completed top note once colored through Big Shot using Square Lattice Embossing Folder. Attach to card base using SNAIL – ensure you only add SNAIL on the left hand side.
5. Stamp "birthday wishes" greeting in Not Quite Navy on Very Vanilla and adhere on top of Top Note using Stampin' Dimensionals.
6. Add rhinestones to stamped image as desired.

Leadership Swap - Every Little Bit Meets You're a Gem

Good times this week in Nashville at the Stampin' Up Leadership Conference. Really, how could it not be fun with that many people who love stamping in one place?  This is one of my swap cards and I'm loving how it turned out. I actually remembered to make one for myself and take a photo!

The bird is from Every Little Bit, and the greeting is from the awesome You're a Gem set from the Occasions Mini. Leadership Swap - Every Little Bit Meets Bring on the Cake

I'm at the annual Stampin' Up Leadership Conference for the next couple days, and one of the things we do at pretty much all stamping events is make a bunch of cards to swap! This is one of my swap cards for this year.

I love the Every Little Bit stamp set and used it on both of my swaps, and then the greeting here is from the Bring on the Cake  (W121899/C121958) stamp set in the Occasions Mini. Add a little Big Shot (the scallop square and polkadot embossed background), watercoloring, and a bit of bling (punched photo corner out of red glimmer paper and a basic rhinestone.  Perfect for any occasion!

Step by Step Directions

1. Cut Basic Black to 5.5 x 8.5 and fold in half.
2. Cut Very Vanilla to 5.25 x 4 and run through Big Shot with Vintage Wallpaper Folder.
3. Stamp greeting in Cherry Cobbler on a scrap of Very Vanilla, punch out with Full Heart Punch and set aside.
4. Run piece of Cherry Cobbler through Big Shot using Heart Embosslit. Attach punched heart to Big Shot one using SNAIL.
5. Tuck left edge of ribbon under and attach using SNAIL. Carefully attach ribbon to embossed panel using glue dots to about the half way point.
6. Take a piece of linen thread and tie a bow, and include the key.
7. Affix the rest of the ribbon using glue dots, trim edge on an angle and leave it so it over hangs.
8. Attach embossed panel to card base using SNAIL.
9. Attach heart to finished card using Stampin' Dimensionals
