Yes, today I am featuring Christmas cards...I know, I know, but really...don't we all love our Christmas stamp sets?  Here's two sets that I absolutely love which are retiring!  Above is Big on Christmas - super cute with just a bit of watercoloring and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Below is a completely ifferent style with a set called A Wish for Peace. Again, a bit of glitter takes this simple card to the next level.

Farewell to Bugs & Kisses

I am usually very ruthless when it comes to cleaning out my stamps once they are retired, but I don't think I'll be parting with Bugs & Kisses anytime soon. It's great for so many occasions!  I got the idea for this card on Stampin Connection, which is a great perk of being a demonstrator. Thanks to Denise Kasandra for the inspiration!

Even more retiring sets - Paradise & Petal Pizzazz

Are you sick of retiring stamp sets yet?  The flower image on this card comes from Petal Pizzazz which I absolutely love for techniques like the one used above, baby wipe technique.  Get step by step directions for baby wipe technique by clicking here. For this card we used Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait and Melon Mambo reinkers for a fresh and fun summer-inspired color combo!

This card was the hit of my retirement stamp a stack and features the stamp set Paradise. It features five different leaf images and I was so happy that so many ladies liked it. I bought it almost a year ago and really had not used it nearly enough!  This card is simple with the leaves stamped along the bottom tone on tone with Concord Crush ink on Concord Crush cardstock. The leaf is stamped in Pear Pizzazz and the greeting comes from another retiring set, Great Friend.

Sweet Friend Strawberry & Scratch and Sniff tutorial

 

 

Remember the strawberry card I posted last week?  I cannot get enough of the cuteness of the strawberries - perfect for strawberry season!    This card features three retiring items:

• Tart and Tangy stamp set
• Sweet Friend stamp set
• Pawsitively Prints Designer Series Paper (now on sale for $9.38)

The edge is torn and the paper tucked in behind. The strawberry was colored with Real Red and Garden Green markers and stamped on Whisper White cardstock. 

If you want to take this up a notch...try Scratch and Sniff technique on the Strawberry!  Here's how!

 1.    Take unsweetened* drink mix (such as koolaid) in the appropriate flavour and mix with clear
embossing powder.

2.    Cover stamped orange image with versamark pad or marker

3.    Coat stamped image and tap off excess.

4.    Heat with heat tool until embossing powder/drink mix combo is melted.

* Your drink mix should be sugar-free because heated sugar will become brown.

Retiring Sets - Dreams du Jour

Here's another card we made with retiring sets at my retirement stamp a stack! The butterfly image here is from the retiring set Dreams du Jour which is a simple set with a botanical theme.  The butterflies are punched with the Postage Punch from the Summer Mini which is becoming one of my favorite punches.

The greeting comes from Curly Cute, which I love because it takes up lots of space on the card.  The colors featured are Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum and Blushing Bride.  Sweet color combo for the summer months!

Sometimes I'm not all that great at picking what sets are retiring...but in this case, I was completely right. This stamp set, Pun Fun, has been around for ages, and has been well-loved over the past few years.  It's a bigger set, but perfect for whimsical or kid-friendly cards.  You can check out the list of retiring stamps here.  Get them before they are gone for good!
