This is one of my most popular classes, so as of this month, I'll be moving to a bigger venue to accomodate more stampers!!! The class will now be held at the Fire Hall on Lough Road (between Main Street & Nelson Road) in South Mountain.  Check in starts at 6:45 p.m. and the class starts at 7 p.m.  This class usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and is a fun night out.   Best of all, the class is free with an order of $25 or more!

Card Cafe Sneak Peek - Register Today!

Ruffled Ribbon Technique Tutorial

Ruffles and frills are all the rage in papercrafting, especially when it comes to creating projects with a vintage flair. With Stampin' Up's seam binding you can create a ruffled accent by pulling a string! This card features the stamp set A Flower for All Seasons which is a great set for watercoloring and you can earn it for FREE with an order of $60 or more!

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

• Rose Red
  • 5.5 x 8.5 for card base
  • 3.25 x 4.25 for centre mat
  • Scrap for punched Decorative Label
• Very Vanilla
  • 4 x 5.25 for embossed mat
  • Scrap for greeting
• Designer Series Paper
  • 3 x4 for centre panel
• Watercolor Paper
  • Scrap for stamped image

Technique Directions

1. Cut seam binding on one and and fray the binding.
2. Towards the centre grab a single thread so that the ribbon starts to gather.
3. Using your fingers gather the ribbon as desired.

Tips & Tricks: Make sure you have enough seam binding on hand to try this technique so you can get a feel for how to gather the ribbon first.

Finishing Touches

1. Cut and fold card base in half.
2. Run Very Vanilla cardstock through Big Shot with embossing folder and attach to the card base with SNAIL.
3. Cut Designer Series Paper and mat for it and attach together using SNAIL.
4. Gather seam binding as above and attach to centre mat by wrapping around the back with SNAIL. Attach to the card base with SNAIL.
5. Stamp image with Staz-On on Watercolor Paper. Color as desired with markers and blender pen. Punch out with oval punch.
6. Punch Decorative Label out of Rose Red cardstock and layer stamped image on top with SNAIL. Attach to centre of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
7. Add pearls on top of the ribbon as shown.

Happy Friday...Stampin Up Sale-A-Bration Style with Bliss

A lot of you ask where I get my ideas for projects. A lot of the time they pop into my head or they just sort of happen...other times, the creative juices aren't flowing or I'm not in the stamping groove and I'll copy a great idea from someone else!  One of the best things about being a demonstrator is getting ideas from other demonstrators, especially on our demonstrator-only community, Stampin' Connection which is full of samples.

This card I copied from one created by my buddy Ronda, who I do tend to copy frequently.  She is the queen of the simple card, and I've learned a lot from her about creating cards that are duplicatable! So when I need a fast and easy card, she's my go-to gal. :)   Just more proof that you don't need to be create to stamp....you just need to be able to copy!

Don't you love this black and white color combo with the Newsprint Paper from the Occasions Mini?  So elegant!  I love this paper and it comes in a package with 24 sheet! I've been using it like crazy and promise you'll love it too - it's a great accent for pretty much every project.

Birdie Bliss

When I first got the Bliss stamp set, I was so wrapped up in the butterfly and damask images that I entirely missed the cute bird and flower. That's just another reason I love that stamps come in sets....you look at the set after a while and get something entirely new! 

The bird is stamped in Baja Breeze, and then the card features Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso for a bit of a vintage vibe.  This set really screams Vintage to me, which isn't my natural style, but this set make it so easy!

Glass Glitter & Glue Dot Tutorial Featuring Stampin' Up's Bliss

Here's a bonus project for the week - featuring this week's Stamp Set - Bliss!  Enjoy!

Glitter is a great and affordable way to take your cards to the next level, but let's face it...glitter can be a bit on the messy side. By pairing your Glass Glitter with Mini Glue Dots, you have glitter that stays put!

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

• Baja Breeze
  • 5.5 x 8.5 for card base
• Very Vanilla
  • 4 x 5.25 for mat
  • Scrap for greeting
• Early Espresso
  • Scrap for punched mat

 

Technique Directions

1. Apply glue dots wherever you'd like glitter on your project. Here they have been added to the centre of each flower.
2. Carefully cover each one with glitter and tap off excess. Gently press glitter into the glue dot.

 

Tips & Tricks: To help contain your glitter take it and place it into inexpensive plastic containers. Sandwich ones are perfect. This will help you ensure that glitter isn't all of your work area and avoids having to put glitter back into the small containers.

 

Finishing Touches

1. Cut and fold card base in half.
2. Run Very Vanilla cardstock through Big Shot with embossing folder.
3. Attach to card base with SNAIL.
4. Stamp "bliss" in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and punch out with Decorative Label punch. Ink edges with Baja Breeze.
5. Punch Early Espresso with Decorative Label punch. Cut label in half and trim – attach to back of greeting with SNAIL. Attach completed label to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
6. Top off label with Vintage Adornment attached with a mini glue dot.
7. Add glitter to card as per technique directions above.

Vintage Bliss

It's Bliss week...all week long I'm featuring ideas with the fabulous Bliss stamp set that you can earn fro free during Sale-A-Bration.   There's something about using neutrals with a pop of red, isn't there?
