Bye Bye to the Summer Mini - Stock Up Now!

September is almost here...which means there's only a few days left to order from the Summer Mini Catalog. A lot of the products in this mini catalog are gone after August 31^st, so take a look and make sure there's not something on your wish list that you'd be missing out on. Step by Step Directions

1. Cut four Scallop Squares from Old Olive cardstock.
2. Cut out flower using Big Shot, using Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Rose Red card stock to create flowers. Layer together and fasten together using a Pumpkin Pie Floral Brad.
3. Cut letters for title – Summer – out of Rose Red using the Alphabet Simple Dies.
4. Cut a 2 inch strip of umbrella patterned paper, and a ½ inch strip of pumpkin pie polkadot designer series paper. Attach both to 12x12 So Saffron cardstock as shown.
5. Attach title on top of strip of Designer Series Paper using SNAIL.
6. Attach Scallop Squares as shown using SNAIL.
7. Using Stampin' Dimensionals attach flower to lower right hand corner of page.

Punched Posies Birthday Card

This card is copied from the Summer Mini -I just loved it so much that I had to create my own!  It uses the Punch Posies set which is a level 2 hostess set.  I just love anything that can be created using my punches!

The colors used here are So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip. I hand cut the "grass" and then stamped the greeting from Family Phrases. The flower is topped off with a Filigree brad.

Motorcycle Father's Day Card

 

 

This week I have a couple Father's Day projects to share with you - starting with this fun card featuring Motorcycle from the Summer Mini, and a super easy technique.

The striped paper is actually foil paper - from the Bride Specialty Paper package. I bought this ages ago, but have a fair bit left so decided it was the perfect "easy" technique to showcase at my technique stamp camp this past weekend.  What's really neat about this paper is with some ink and sponges you can make it whatever color you want!  I love products with so many options - sort of like the Presto Patterns Paper I shared in this project last week.

This piece was sponged this piece with Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip classic ink, and then topped off with a bit of Log Cabin Smooch Spritz that was also sponged in a circular motion over top. The Bride Paper will only be available until June 30th, so order it soon so you don't miss out!

Scrapbooking Wednesday: Meet Presto Patterns Paper

Here's a page that I designed a few weeks ago to share with other demonstrators at my upline Josee's annual Stampin' Girls event.   I presented on "Scrapbooking with the Summer Mini" and this was just one of the pages I shared. This page is packed full of awesome products from the Mini including Presto Patterns Paper, the All a Flutter Single Stamp, In a Word Stamp Set and the Gold Glow Smooch Spritz.

The Presto Patterns Paper is the "white" paper in the Summer mini - basically the paper is embossed with a pattern and then you can make it any color you want by sponging it, brayering it, or spraying it. To get this background, I sponged it with Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and So Saffron, and then sprayed it with Gold Glow Smooch Spritz. Here's a close up of the paper:

The Presto Paper was cut to 6x6 to help save on the paper, and then matted with Melon Mambo and Soft Suede cardstock to anchor it to the page which is Textured 12x12 Rich Razzleberry.  And yes, that's me and my husband nine years ago at our backyard wedding! :)

Five Minute Friday: Elements of Style Butterfly

Here's a quick and easy card this Friday. With a bit of simple stamping using Elements of Style (W118611/C120045) and the Big Shot, you have a elegant card for pretty much any occasion.  You can easily switch up the colors and be good to go.  This is the card that my customers who placed orders over the past few weeks will receive in the mail soon!

Here's how to make this card:

1. Cut Melon Mambo Cardstock to 8.5 x 5.5 and fold in half.

2. Stamp flourish in lower left and upper right hand corner in Melon Mambo.

3. Cut large butterfly using Big Shot out of Kraft (soon to be renamed Crumb Cake), stamp flower image from Elements of Style in Rich Razzleberry.

4. Stamp "just for you" (from Teeny Tiny Wishes) or any other greeting on bottom left in Rich Razzleberry.

5. Add Rich Razzleberry grosgrain  ribbon to card base with SNAIL; cut off at edges.

6. Attach butterfly using Stampin' Dimensonals.

I have a special little bonus project for you with the Butterfly Die for the Big Shot.  While you have it out, why not make a few of these little guys:

 

All you do is cut the Butterfly out with the Big Shot using whatever paper you'd like. I used Cottage Wall Designer Series paper, and then coordinated the lip balm, lol.  To hold the lip balm, take a thin strip of cardstock and then attach on one end with sticky strip to the back of the butterfly.  Then using the lip balm to size it, attach the other end with sticky strip - that way you know how tight to make it.  Easy peasy!  Perfect for a party favor this summer, because who can't use lip balm?  I made these last week at my team's PJ party, and they were a hit!

June Color Challenge - Tropical Party Graduation Card

This month's color combo is bright and fun - perfect for summer-themed projects. I usually pick my colors based on the season and what's hot with Stampin' Up and then work from there. So it's even a challenge for me too!  I struggled to get this color combo going, but am very happy with the end result!  Check out this graduation card featuring Tropical Party:

Simple Watercolor Trio Card Featuring the Big Shot

   


I'm sure by now you've looked through the Summer Mini catalog a bunch of times, and you've probably not looked all that hard at Watercolor Trio on page 16. It's a great set for making elegant and simple cards, and I'm so glad that I decided to get it. It's quickly become a go-to set in my stamp room!

On this card, the combination of the Top Note Die and new Lattice die, both for the Big Shot really make this card seem like you've done a lot more work.   A fun Melon Mambo polkadot ribbon threaded through the horizontal slot punch tops everything off nicely.

Five Minute Friday: Embossed Elements of Style

It's been a short week, but it's felt much longer - it must be trying to jam five days of stuff into four! But the good news that it's Friday. I have a fun weekend in store, I'm off to a Stampin' Up event in Ottawa which will be lots of fun, and includes a PJ party with the Papercraft Princess team!

This card is literally a less than five minute card. I promise, it will take you longer to get out your stuff than to get your card together!

1. Cut Soft Suede card base to 5.5 x 8.5 and score at 4.25 and fold

2.  Stamp large flower image from Elements of Style in upper right and lower left hand corners of card base in Soft Suede classic ink.

3. Stamp flower image on 3x4 piece of Very Vanilla and then run it through the Big Shot using the Lattice Textured Impressions Folder

4. Adhere to 4.25 x 3.25 piece of Dusty Durango cardstock with Stampin' Dimensionals

5. Stamp "for you" in Dusty Durango classic ink on Very Vanilla cardstock, and then punch out with 1 inch circle punch.

6. Punch out 1 1/4 circle of Soft Suede and layer greeting on it with SNAIL.  Attach to card with SNAIL.

Scrappin' Wednesday: Canada Day Scrapbook Pages

I don't know about where you are...but it is totally roasting here!  This spring the weather has been totally crazy, my son was in the sprinkler and running around in a bathing suit on Easter weekend, and now we just spent our May long weekend at the lake and swimming in our pool.  Go figure. It's July weather in May!  With that in mind, I thought it was a good day to post a Canada Day themed scrapbook page spread.  This is yet another one we did during my scrapbook in a day class earlier this month.

It features the Canada Day stamp set from the Summer Mini which is very versatile with fireworks (and a firecracker which doubles perfectly as a candle).  For any scrapbooker it belongs on the must-have list! Check out the artwork - the set is available in both wood (119889) and clear (120042) mounts:

Technique Tuesday: Polished Stone with a Twist

Tuesday....so it's time for a technique.  Here's a great technique called Polished Stone with a bit of a twist. This is one of the techniques we did this at this month's stamp club and everyone's turned out a bit differently. No two polished stone with a twist cards are a alike.  So get out your glossy cardstock, classic reinkers and encore reinker and let's go!

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

• Basic Black  
• Card base: 8.5 x 5.5

Technique Directions

For this technique I’d recommend a solid image stamp and prepare to get a wee bit messy!  This is a variation on the polished stone technique that involves stamping off to create a distressed look.

 

1.    Take a large (or 2-3 small) cotton balls and add a drop of rubbing alcohol. You may want to hold onto the cotton ball with a jumbo binder clip to save your fingers!

2.    Add a couple drop of each of the classic reinkers, followed by a couple drops of the Encore reinker.

3.    Take and swirl reinkers on cotton ball over glossy cardstock. You should get a marbled looking effect.

4.    Set aside and allow to dry for a couple minutes. Do not allow to dry completely.

5.    This is where the “twist” comes in – now stamp your image on the background with Stazon. Not all of the background will “take” and you will get a distressed image as below.

6.    Set aside and allow to dry. You can also speed dry time with the heat tool.

7.    Spray with a light layer of sealant to ensure your image doesn’t smudge. If you do not seal it, the metallic reinker will be a bit powdery to the touch and rub off.

 

Finishing Touches

1.    Adhere polished stone panel to the Basic Black mat.

2.    Using paper piercing guide, create three holes for brads (using every other hole) and insert three vintage brads.

3.    Adhere to card base.

4.    Stamp greeting in Staz-On on Bashful Blue cardstock and punch out with Word Window.  Add to card with SNAIL.
