Another thanksgiving/fall themed card today! This one is quick and easy to make, and features painting with crystal effects and reinkers. It's hard to tell in this picture, but the turkey's colors are blenders and he's quite shiny! This is normally a technique you do on acetate, but it wasn't working for me, so I decided to try it out on Whisper White cardstock! The lesson being, sometimes you have to abandon your original plan and you can come up with something new!
Here's a close up of the turkey:
This still doesn't really do my wee turkey justice - much better in person! Here's how to make this card:
- Cut Chocolate Chip cardstock card base to 8.5 by 4.25 and fold in half using bone folder
- Cut Dusty Durango cardstock to 4 by 5.25
- Cut sheet of Autumn Meadows to 3.75 by 5, using tearing edge ruler, tear upper left corner, and then roll down gently. Softly sponge Chocolate Chip Classic Ink along torn edge. Adhere to Dusty Durango panel and put aside.
-
Stamp turkey only from Gobble, Gobble in Chocolate Chip. Punch out using 1 3/4 circle punch.
-
Take a baggie and squeeze three small dots of Crystal Effects on to it (far enough apart do they don't touch). Add a drop of Dusty Durango to one dot, Crushed Curry to another dot, and Soft Suede in the final one. Carefully mix reinker with crystal effects to tint.
-
Using fine brush "paint" crystal effects mixture onto turkey feathers (Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango) and his body (Soft Suede). Put aside to dry.
-
Using Circle Scissor Plus, cut 2 inch circle of Chocolate Chip card stock. Using distressing tool from cutting kit, gently distress.
-
Once turkey is dry, sponge Chocolate Chip classic ink around edges. Adhere using SNAIL to Chocolate Chip circle. Attach to card panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.
-
Adhere Soft Suede ribbon (polka dot side down) around panel. Tie another piece to create bow.
-
Using SNAIL adhere entire panel to card base. You are done!
If you've not used reinkers before, they are a great and affordable supplies to add to your stash. They are only $3.95 each and are extremely versatile. They can be used for many techniques including the one above, the baby wipe technique, tinting shimmer paint and so many more. I think I smell a reinker tutorial coming up! Um, and did I mention, they are meant for reinking your stamp pads?
